Introducing

Heather Schwartz

is known for creating a unique concert experience, with a vintage charm and passionate vocals, she truly connects with her audience.  Inspired and influenced by Blues, Classical, Jazz, R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop, Heather's style is developed and versatile.   Heather established her love for music from the very beginning; aside from her at home productions, Heather started performing in church, school, honor choir, musicals, and band as a young girl, and furthered her musical development during the summer at Interlochen Fine Arts Camp.

Heather has a performance career spanning over 20 years. She started formal classical training at the age of thirteen, and continued that study as a vocal performance major at the University of Michigan, School of Music. During her college years Heather really started to expand outside of the classical realm she had been so immersed in.   Heather lists Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Erykah Badu as her chief influences.   Her affinity for Jazz, Blues and R&B led her to create concepts for her own productions; in 2008 Heather produced her first two-night sold out concert featuring Rick Roe and Josef Deas. The success continued and in 2012, She established the HEATHER BLACK PROJECT for a weekly gig and 6 year residency at The Ravens Club in downtown Ann Arbor, MI.  The HBP has since expanded as a unique collective and rotating cast of skilled musicians of Detroit, Ann Arbor and beyond.  Inspirited in vintage jazz yet incorporating modern elements of Soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop Heather Black Project music yields a soulful vibe and hip groove that everyone can connect with.
Embracing strict independence in business and in music, Heather (AKA Heather Black) has created her own niche to offer to the world stage.   Ms. Black is a rising star and has built a loyal following in the process.  Heather might be crooning of love, or shouting the blues, but one thing is always true: she conveys a deeper message and secures her audiences’ rapt attention. “Music is already in people.  I’m not bringing music to them, I'm uniting in their vibrations.” She considers herself simply a humble servant of her musical gifts. Now Heather seems to be hitting her stride.  She sees herself expanding even further, noting that “as a singer, I want to explore the diverse realms of music using my voice, and I don’t want to be typified as any one genre.  I simply want to be and SING Music.”  With a bright future ahead of her and a rich legacy behind her, Heather has plenty of Music still to live.
